REPRESENTATION
gender
> in alot of beyonces music videos, her costumes she wears are usually revealing clothes which show off her body. this also incorporates her African american identity which is usually also a key factor of her music videos.
> the houses with elaborate decor and big outfits shown reflects black slavery. cotton farm owners enslaved black people to pick cotton for very low wages. the scenes from the music video shows how they're no longer afraid and are showing how they're just as able to be in the position of authority. > the little boy dancing infront of the police. this shows how high police brutality is. many cases have surfaced about police illegally and unjustly beating and arresting black people but are not being caught or trialed for it. the police holding up their hands in surrender show how the police are being put in position where they need to admit their crimes.
> low angles: shows how through all of the racism, brutality and injustice, black people are not afraid and will continue as a community to remain united and strive to be as strong as they always were. also proves how even though the medis exploits black people, they always show how strong they are. the low angle of beyonce especially shows her power.
