This is due to the stereotypes towards both men and woman. analysis of the riptide music video Genre and audience The song and music video for Riptide fits into an  Indie, alternative, independent, retro type of culture. We can tell this by the use of fashion throughout the music video alongside the locations featured in the video. Indie sub-culture is very much influenced by iconography which revolves around the natural world alongside vintage culture. A lot of indie music videos focus around natural spaces and things. The indie genre often takes an unconventional approach to many things such as media language and representation. Perhaps vance joy chose to use women in a way to gain publicity and social integration which refers to Stuart halls theory on why people choose to consume media texts. However, as well as the genre fitting this indie theme, there could also be strong iconography features of a horror genre....

dizzee rascal (dream) music video Narrative The Dream music video and the song that follows, is all set around Dizzee Rascal. The music video combines elements of performance aswell as narrative, which is typical for a music video form. The narrative of the music video starts off with a female pianist who directly addresses the audience and introduces Dizzee Rascal and the music video, aswell as ends it too. This female pianist acts as a narrator, where she is reacting to what is going on as well as following the story and narrative along with it. The narrative is a linear meaning we can  understand  what is going on. The narrative which follows the music video is also following the song. The whole narrative is fixed around a dream, which we later figure out it is about Dizzee Rascal himself and this music video acts as an autobiography about him. charity advert analysis, one second a day General conventions The campaign name is called save Syrias children. Save Syrias children is a charity who's ideology is based around the Wars that have been taking place in Syria for nearly 8 years. Bombs have rained down on children's homes, making them without basic necessities such as warmth, shelter, food and many more. This campaign is put in place to make sure Syrian families are living with these basic necessities. During this video, we can see the connection between the campaign and the advert and it becomes clear on what message they are trying to get across. This video shows a girls life throughout a year, in a selection of  one second clips. In the first clip it is shown to be her birthday, so she is blowing out candles. Gender in the media has always been the biggest influence towards media advertising, viewing and many more. Over times, the presentation of gender in the media has improved, however a  majority of women are still often portrayed in different ways to men in certain medias. In around the 1900s, the portayal of women was still very stereotypical, meaning women was often shown to be  weaker than men and that men were always the most powerful in the household and workplaces.
